SAINT JOHN, New Brunswick — The Riptide have signed 6-3 shooter and leading scorer from the University of Louisiana – Lafayette, Frank Bartley IV.

Bartley joins a list of Riptide signees who shot over 38% from the 3pt line with a minimum of 5 3pt attempt per game last season, as well as, experience playing on the big stage and in big games.

“The highlights of my basketball career at BYU that I most value included playing in the Maui Invitational, 2014 West Coast Conference Championship, 2015 West Coast Conference Championship and the 2014 and 2015 NCAA Tournaments,” Bartley reflected about his time at BYU.

Bartley transferred to UL-Lafayette for his final two seasons of eligibility where he garnered Newcomer of the Year, 3rd Team All Conference, Louisiana Major Player of the Year/Pete Maravich Award, and 1st Team All Conference Awards while tallying over 1,000 points in that time span.

“Frank is a strong and athletic guard who is a proven scorer and shoots the ball at a high rate,” Coach Nelson Terroba said. “He is a two-way player who can get downhill while playing with poise.”

Bartley has worked this summer in preparation for his time with The Riptide and is eager to begin his professional career in Saint John.

“This summer I trained with multiple pro trainers in Louisiana, Dallas and Washington, D.C. My training focused on footwork, shooting the pro 3 consistently, and enhancing my ball handling skills,” Bartley said. “I am excited about being in the NBL because professional basketball has always been my dream. I have worked and trained hard and I’m excited to be a member of the Saint John Riptide, where I can continue to develop and contribute to the team’s success. As a rookie, I want to do whatever it takes to help us win games and to win the Championship.”
